We all know who they are. They do too. They are the bane of modern business and know it and simply don't care. They can keep a growing business down and a new business from developing its potential.
The next time you go into a successful business look at their employees. Odds are those employees stand out. Successful businesses are not built with minimal employees.
Why? Minimal employees are in it for the paycheck which they see as a time and space issue. They love the status quo because the status quo always gives them a paycheck. That's why they hate change and resist it so much...change brings no good to minimal employees. That is also why they show little pride in their work.
But minimal employees just aren't hatched...they are hired and managed. Minimal employees exist because management allows them to. When management changes that focus, minimal employees often quit.
Be careful when categorizing an employee as minimal. They may have potential if you can just find it...if they have the potential and care not to use it then just let it go; they have no interest.
If you have a number of minimal employees be careful about changing them all at once. Always have a master plan for how to carry out improvements and changes. For middle and small sized businesses the strategy of one employee at a time is best.
Try to replace your most minimal employee first. This demonstrates to others that might be sitting on the minimal fence that you are indeed serious. Your better employees will applaud your efforts.
Minimal employees have destroyed many businesses and continue to be one of the top reasons businesses fail. It's not their fault if minimal employees hurt your business...it's yours.
